It is not what fans want to hear, but the New Orleans Pelicans may have an extremely quiet free agency. Despite having an armored truck loaded with cold, hard cash ready to back up to any house Tom Benson so desires, the team may find themselves watching other teams sign the marquee free agents while they pick up one or two rotational pieces and call it a day.
The primary need for the Pelicans, depth on the wing, is also, arguably, the most scarce position in the NBA. With nearly every team looking to add a perimeter shooter and defender, it is difficult to envision a scenario where a player chooses to come to New Orleans over other, more desirable markets when the contracts are identical.
