There is no doubt that Dante Cunningham helped the New Orleans Pelicans last season. When he first signed with the team Cunningham immediately became the best small forward on the roster despite never playing extended minutes at the position in his career, mostly because of how bad the Pelicans other options were at the spot.
What made it all that impressive is that there really was no reason for the idea to work. Cunningham was always thought of as an average or below-average athlete at his more traditional power forward spot, and moving up to the more athletic position on the wing should have spelled trouble.
