It wasn’t supposed to take this long. The New Orleans Pelicans entered the 2015-16 season full of hope and promise and with the expectation that they would win closer to 50 games than 42. Then injuries happened and destroyed any semblance of a real NBA rotation leaving Anthony Davis to try to carry a lottery team to wins. It took a while but on Tuesday the Pelicans picked up the first win of the Alvin Gentry air with a dominating 120-105 effort over the Dallas Mavericks.
MVP: Ryan Anderson
With Anthony Davis out for the second half of the game the Pelicans needed someone who they could run the offense through to hold off the Mavericks.
