New Orleans Pelicans lose Anthony Davis for the season

The New Orleans Pelicans have shut down Anthony Davis for the remainder of the season, and he will undergo surgery, according to multiple reports.

Anthony Davis has apparently been dealing with a shoulder injury throughout the season, and after suffering a knee injury in the game against Portland on Friday night, the Pelicans have decided to preserve his longterm health.

Gentry said he's played through a shoulder injury all season and now has a knee issue. He said this is a long term decision. #Pelicans

It is unclear whether the surgery will be on his shoulder or his knee, but it is clear the team is putting his long-term health in front of immediate victories.
