One of the more amazing parts of the New Orleans Pelicans offense last season was the success they had despite taking a relatively low number of three-pointers as the NBA turned more and more towards the shot as a fundamental part of many offenses. Despite having sharpshooters like Eric Gordon and Ryan Anderson on the roster, New Orleans finished just 23rd in the NBA in three-point attempts per game in 2014-15, and despite that fact the Pelicans finished with a top 10 offensive efficiency.
Enter Alvin Gentry, one of the brilliant minds behind the Golden State Warriors offense that finished second in the league in offensive efficiency behind a barrage of threes from Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson.
