As it currently stands, the Pelicans are on track to receive the 6th pick in the 2016 NBA draft. Best case scenario, they can move up to 5th or 4th, worst case scenario, they could drop down to 10th. Regardless, ending with the 6th worst record doesn’t mean you end with the 6th best pick, it simply means you end with the 6th best odds.
It is perfectly reasonable to wonder about the possibility of moving into the top two. The Pelicans are looking at a 30%-ish chance at moving into the top three, and that’s as close as you need to get before Brandon Ingram’s name can pop up.
