It still feels weird typing this, but the New Orleans Pelicans had a solid draft.
It was not a dream draft. It did not solve every problem the team currently has. It probably still left them fairly short of their ultimate goal of becoming a contending team.
However, the Pelicans’ draft decisions finally made sense and had a purpose.
Since Anthony Davis‘ selection in 2012, New Orleans has not had a selection pan out to any production on the Pelicans. The Buddy Hield pick, if anything else, solves that.
Buddy’s impact on this team will take some time to take effect, but his ability to score at ease from multiple areas of the floor helps this team greatly.
