The 2018-2019 campaign for the New Orleans Pelicans was one that began with great promise but quickly sprinted toward disappointment due to a myriad of reasons, including injuries and never-ending trade rumors. While much of the finger-pointing as to why the Pelicans struggled will be placed on the shoulders of superstar Anthony Davis since he is the face of the franchise, New Orleans’ problems ran much deeper than the six-time all-star.
Davis deserves his share of the blame — but certainly not all. At the time Davis made his intentions of wanting a trade to send him out of New Orleans, the Pelicans were 22-28 and ranked 12th in the Western Conference standings.
