Pelicans 1-2, Kings 0-3
LAS VEGAS – For the second time in as many nights, New Orleans lottery pick Buddy Hield ignited during a second-half scoring eruption Monday at Cox Pavilion. This time, the rookie from Oklahoma’s exploits were enough to push the Pelicans to a victory, their first in pool play. After an unremarkable first half for Hield and his teammates in general, he piled up 17 points in the third quarter, part of his 23-point performance. The 22-year-old finished 10/23 overall from the field and 3/12 on treys, but he made all three of them during a pivotal stretch of the third period.
