NBA Summer League Game 2: Jazz 79, Pelicans 72

Jazz 1-1, Pelicans 0-2

LAS VEGAS – Buddy Hield shot poorly, especially by his lofty standards, through the first seven quarters of summer league action for New Orleans. Then Sunday’s fourth period happened.

The Oklahoma standout – who is nicknamed “Buddy Buckets,” among other labels – drained four consecutive three-pointers to nearly bring New Orleans all the way back from a 14-point deficit. Utah ultimately held on to prevail, despite Hield rapidly pouring in 12 points in the period. Hield finished with 21 points, highlighted by a total of five three-pointers. Fellow New Orleans rookie Cheick Diallo also had a productive evening, netting a double-double (12 points, 11 rebounds) and blocking four shots.
