NBA Preview: New Orleans Pelicans aim to slow down Luka Doncic and Dallas Mavericks for first victory of season

After coming up short against the defending champion Raptors Tuesday night, the New Orleans Pelicans will play inside the friendly confines of the Smoothie King Center for the first time of the 2019-20 season.

New Orleans hosts the Dallas Mavericks, led by the reigning Rookie of the Year Luka Doncic and the newly acquired Kristaps Porzingis. The Mavericks got off on the right foot to the season after beating the Washington Wizards 108-100 Wednesday night. Dallas’ much hyped Euro duo lived up to expectations in game one: Doncic had 34 points and nine rebounds, while Porzingis, who played his first game in nearly two years, had 23 points and hit on seven of 16 attempts, including three three-pointers.
