New Orleans Pelicans forward Anthony Davis has been fined $25,000 for verbally abusing a referee and failing to leave the court in timely manner, the league announced Friday.
Davis received the first ejection in his six-year NBA career during the second quarter of Wednesday's 120-102 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves after he received two technical fouls in a 15-second span.
He finished with 17 points and five rebounds.
"That play was a hard play to officiate,'' Timberwolves coach Tom Thibodeau said after Wednesday's game. "Because of the size of DeMarcus [Cousins], Anthony and Karl-Anthony Towns, it can get pretty physical in there.
