Based on an entire roster of players in their 20s and a youthful core led by 22-year-old All-Star power forward Anthony Davis, the New Orleans Pelicans appear to be an optimal team for a coach who’d like to implement a fast-paced offensive attack. At the other end of the floor, with two-time NBA shot-blocking champion Davis patrolling the paint – and beyond – the Pelicans seem to have considerable room for improvement, after finishing 22nd in defensive efficiency in 2014-15.
Given both of those factors, Alvin Gentry was described late Saturday evening by national media members as a potentially ideal Pelicans head coach.
