Monty Williams reveals one touching reason behind his emotional reaction to playoff clinch

OAKLAND – While his Pelicans players celebrated on the Smoothie King Center hardwood Wednesday, rejoicing in sealing a trip to the playoffs by beating the Spurs, Monty Williams grew emotional, as he greeted excited family members, including wife Ingrid and their five children. As it turns out, Williams was struck by the moment for more than the obvious basketball reasons. The fifth-year coach immediately thought of his youngest son, 4-year-old Micah. As Williams revealed for the first time this week, Micah’s birth was a difficult one.

“He had some difficulties in delivery,” Williams said on his coach’s show, which aired Friday on the Black & Blue Report.
