Monty Williams was fired from the New Orleans Pelicans today, ending a five year relationship with the organization. Whether Williams should have been fired or not is going to be a debate that rages on for the next couple weeks as the team begins their search for a new head coach.

After all, he just finished taking New Orleans to their first playoff berth since Chris Paul was traded, and did so with an incredibly injured roster. He stuck with the team as they rebuilt, and it looked like he was finally going to get his chance to show what he’s made of as a head coach.
