It’s fitting that New Orleans’ postseason hopes came crashing down on a Monday, the most depressing day of the week for so many.
While the odds weren’t all that great, the Pelicans woke up to several scenarios of squeezing into the play-in tournament. However, by the end of the night’s slate of NBA games, a 115-110 loss to the Grizzlies and the Spurs crushing the Bucks by a 146-125 margin extinguished nearly all dreams of the Pels playing beyond this regular season.
Following a script very similar to the last two games, the Pelicans found themselves behind by a significant margin at halftime, trailing the Grizzlies 71-59, yet a 29-15 third quarter resurgence made it anyone’s game heading to the fourth.
