INDIANAPOLIS – At various times during New Orleans training camp last week, Pelicans players noted that one of their team’s major strengths is its depth. Case in point: Luke Babbitt.
After Dell Demps made the in-season additions of veteran forwards Dante Cunningham and Quincy Pondexter in 2014-15, Babbitt essentially became the Pelicans’ 11th man, despite the fact that the southpaw was leading the NBA in three-point percentage at the time. Babbitt shot a scorching 51.3 percent on treys last season, which would’ve ranked No. 1 in the league if he’d reached the official minimum for successful threes (he finished 59-for-115, 23 makes shy of the cut-off).
