The New Orleans Pelicans announced Sunday morning that Kendrick Perkins suffered a right pectoral injury during the first quarter against the Golden State Warriors. Perkins, pushed into service thanks to injuries to both Alexis Ajinca and Omer Asik, had started the first three games of the regular season.
Originally Perkins was brought onto the roster to function primarily as a locker room leader and center in case of emergency. Unfortunately for the Pelicans that emergency struck much earlier than expected as Ajinca and Asik suffered minor injuries during the preseason.
