Jrue Holiday points, assists vs. Spurs will benefit tornado victims

New Orleans point guard Jrue Holiday has played in an NBA All-Star Game, as well as 21 playoff contests, but in one way, the most important game of his NBA career is tonight, when New Orleans (24-37) hosts San Antonio (46-13) on ESPN. The eighth-year pro has pledged to donate $1,000 to local victims of last month’s tornado for every point and assist he registers Friday against the Spurs.

The idea for the charitable donation resulted from Holiday watching news reports on Feb. 7 that a tornado had struck the city in New Orleans East. It was the strongest tornado to strike the Crescent City in recorded history and caused 33 injuries, though fortunately no fatalities.
