DALLAS – If you’d been told this summer that New Orleans’ starting point guard in Game 6 of the regular season would rank fifth in the NBA in assist average, it probably wouldn’t have qualified as much as a surprise. Jrue Holiday has been among the league’s top assisters throughout his career. What would be a stunner is that the No. 5 assist man in question is actually journeyman point guard Ish Smith, not Holiday.
With Holiday not cleared to play in back-to-back games, the 2013 All-Star is sitting out Saturday’s game at Dallas, after he had started the previous four games.
