Game Thread: Lonzo Ball out, James Johnson available for Pelicans matchup against Knicks

The New Orleans Pelicans will be without Lonzo Ball for tonight’s matchup against the New York Knicks. Ball, who was doubtful to play with left hip flexor soreness, will miss his fourth game in a row and his 11th in the last 14.

Fortunately for the squad, James Johnson will give it a go and play through some right wrist soreness that forced him out at halftime of the Pelicans contest versus the Kings.

Without Ball, Nickeil Alexander-Walker and Josh Hart, Johnson’s importance to the rotation is even greater. In addition to everything else he brings to the court, his playmaking is vital to maintain the offensive flow when one of Zion Williamson or Brandon Ingram need a rest.
