Draft Profile: Marquese Chriss

Going back to last summer, no one had the late-blooming Marquese Chriss listed as a potential NBA lottery pick. The California native “came out of nowhere,” according to ESPN.com, “he wasn’t a McDonald’s All-American, and he didn’t even crack the top 50 of ESPN’s recruiting rankings. But he averaged 13 and five in 24 minutes per game for Washington.” During his one college season, the power forward managed to zoom up draft boards, with every prominent website listing him no worse than a mid-first-rounder. One of the youngest prospects available, he won’t turn 19 until nine days after draft night.
