DeMarcus Cousins needs the Pelicans to find success this season nearly as much as New Orleans needs it.
Despite averaging 26.1 points per game, 11.7 rebounds, 3.9 assists, 1.5 steals, and 1.5 blocks over the last three seasons, Cousins is only the 23rd best player according to Sports Illustrated’s top 100 players list.
For most players, that would be cause for huge consternation. For DeMarcus Cousins, it’s not totally refutable. During the course of those three seasons, he has played for four different teams, none of which won more than 34 games.
This an astonishingly terrible feat.
