MEMPHIS – There’s no time like the present if the New Orleans Pelicans hope to remain in the Western Conference playoff chase. In fact, it may be their final chance to stay in it.
Head coach Alvin Gentry reiterated during his pregame media session Monday that the Pelicans (13-26, 12th in the Western Conference, 4.5 games out of eighth) are entering a pivotal stretch of their schedule, which finally turns favorable in terms of the home/road docket. Following today’s Martin Luther King Day matinee in Memphis (1:30 Central, ESPN, WRNO 99.5 FM), New Orleans will play seven consecutive home games, its longest homestand of the entire 2015-16 season.
