Coming into the 2016 offseason New Orleans was deemed to have taken a downturn from the previous success they had a year ago in reaching the playoffs for the first time after a four year drought.

The front office underwent a new approach to the direction of the team in the hiring of Alvin Gentry while working to retain the team’s free agents to maintain chemistry. The organization’s efforts looked very good at the time, but unfortunately things took a sudden twist.

The core players suffered serious injuries which limited the team to a 30-52 record.
