Anthony Davis will play against Spurs; Pelicans plan to go back to previous starting frontcourt

Alvin Gentry noted during his Friday pregame media session that – after starting Terrence Jones in Wednesday’s loss to Oklahoma City – he plans to return to the first unit of the recent past, which included a frontcourt of Solomon Hill, Dante Cunningham and Anthony Davis. Of course, for that to be possible, the Pelicans (18-28) need Davis to be available, which Gentry confirmed was the case vs. San Antonio.

Davis has had an eventful January, including having to exit games multiple times due to injury. Gentry attributed that to the 23-year-old trying to play through a few ailments; the Pelicans have not ruled out sitting Davis at some point if that may be required to clear him of some of the recent health hindrances.
