During one third-quarter sequence Sunday, Anthony Davis threw down a dunk, then three seconds later, produced another slam off a steal, scoring four points in a matter of moments. In an NBA All-Star Game on his home floor that generated video-game numbers and an endless loop of highlights, Davis was constantly involved in both, en route to racking up a record-setting 52 points.
As a result, the 23-year-old was named Most Valuable Player, leading the Western Conference to a 192-182 win over the East.
“That’s who I wanted to do this for, the city of New Orleans and the Pelicans organization,” Davis said during the trophy presentation.
