Anthony Davis and DeMarcus Cousins may be an intriguing matchup, but don’t actually match up much on court

SACRAMENTO – It’s often billed as an individual battle between former University of Kentucky players when All-Star frontcourt performers Anthony Davis and DeMarcus Cousins face each other three or four times per season, but as Pelicans Coach Alvin Gentry pointed out Tuesday, that’s a bit inaccurate. More often than not, New Orleans assigns a center such as Omer Asik to defending Cousins.

“Those guys won’t be matched up very much at all,” a smiling Gentry said, when asked about the meeting between ex-Wildcats who missed each other in college by two seasons. “I know everybody likes that whole Kentucky thing, and Cousins against AD, but there will be very few plays where they’re matched up.
