Anthony Davis may be the NBA’s leader in blocked shots through the first two-plus weeks into the season (3.11 per game), but that’s not necessarily what has stood out most to the New Orleans Pelicans’ coaching staff. According to Alvin Gentry in his Saturday pregame meeting with the media, Davis has shown improvement in a few other areas that have helped New Orleans be more effective at that end of the floor.
“He’s been terrific as a rim protector,” Gentry said of the three-time All-Star blocks. “But not only that, he’s been better all-around defensively. He’s been better in our screen-and-rolls, better individually.
