Prior to the All-Star break, New Orleans point guard Jrue Holiday compiled one of the best shooting and scoring stretches of his time with the Pelicans, but since the team’s blockbuster trade last week with Sacramento, he’s been inconsistent, tallying six points apiece in losses to Houston and Oklahoma City. He’s also appeared to be hesitant with decision-making, one factor leading to 16 turnovers in three games.
As a result, Pelicans second-year head coach Alvin Gentry had a sitdown today with Holiday to discuss the need for the one-time All-Star to play more aggressively. There are times when the fourth-year Pelican has seemed to lose some of his scoring mentality as he tries to incorporate newcomer DeMarcus Cousins into the mix, but New Orleans (23-37) wants to him to return to his previous form.
