For a weekend in mid-February, 23-year-old Anthony Davis will serve as an unofficial host, mayor and ambassador for the Crescent City, when the NBA descends upon New Orleans for 2017 All-Star festivities, culminating with the All-Star Game on Feb. 19. According to Pelicans second-year head coach Alvin Gentry, one aspect of next month’s midseason showcase that’s most exciting to Davis is being able to serve as a prominent representative for his adopted home city.
“I’m happy for him,” Gentry said during pregame Friday of Davis being named as a Western Conference starter last night on TNT. “It’s important for him to represent this city.
