Like it or not, Alvin Gentry is here to stay….. for now. Through the 2020-21 NBA season the New Orleans Pelicans have certainty at their head coaching position.
Coming into the 2017-18 season, many believed this could be Alvin Gentry’s final year in New Orleans. Through Gentry’s first two full seasons, the team had accumulated a record of 64-100, accompanied by zero playoff appearances. With DeMarcus Cousins and Anthony Davis coming into the year with a full off-season of training, it seemed to be playoffs or bust for the franchise, as well as for Gentry’s tenure.
