LAS CRUCES – Saturday’s New Mexico State University spring football game went in the books as a big win for the defense.
One could argue it was a win for Aggie football in general.
Defensive end Noah Brown scored on a 34-yard interception return, and NMSU’s defense racked up three sacks and seven tackles for losses in a 68-18 win over the offense in front of a few hundred fans at windy Aggie Memorial Stadium.
Granted, the deck was stacked in the defense’s favor. Points were awarded for sacks, turnovers, tackles for loss, three-and-out possessions, while the offense scored only in the usual ways: touchdowns, field goals and extra points.
