LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The man in charge of leading the back end of the Aggie defense during the 2024 season will be Henry Fernandez, Head Coach Tony Sanchez announced Thursday morning.

Fernandez joins the Aggie staff as the safeties coach after serving as the senior defensive analyst for a Texas team that is coming off a run that concluded in the College Football Playoff Semifinals. In total, Fernandez spent three seasons in Austin, Texas, working under Steve Sarkisian.

Fernandez will take over an Aggie unit that returns a pair of standouts in All-CUSA Honorable Mention honoree Jordan Vincent who finished third on the team in tackles in 2023 and two-year contributor Dylan Early who was tied for the team lead in interceptions last season.
