COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The NM State men's golf team picked off right where they finished off, completing the first day at the Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational in a tie for fifth place. The Aggies are deadlocked with Interstate 10 rival UTEP heading into the second day with both teams shooting 290 (+2). NM State sits just seven shots behind Colorado State, who sits atop the leaderboard.
Aidan Thomas and Garrison Smith brought a strong first showing of the year to the NM State scorecard. Thomas recorded birdies on three straight holes to open the day and closed the day with two more.
