SALISBURY, NC – Jeff Siembieda, the play-by-play announcer for the NM State football team's home games, was named the 2015-16 New Mexico Sportscaster of the Year by the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association (NSSA). This is Siembieda's first time honored with this recognition.
The NSSA selected 104 sportscasters and sportswriters for this honor. This includes one sportscaster and one sportswriter from each state, as well as the National Sportscaster of the Year and the National Sportswriter of the Year.
Siembieda has been the Aggies' play-by-play announcer on and off since 2006. Throughout his time with the team, he has called numerous exciting plays, including the nationally-recognized ankle-ception, which clinched a come-from-behind overtime victory against Idaho during the 2015 season.
