LAS VEGAS, Nev. – New Mexico State’s four-year run as Western Athletic Conference tournament kingpin came to an end late Saturday.
Dedrick Basile scored a game-high 18 points, and his 3-pointer with 0.2 seconds left in the game gave second-seeded CSU Bakersfield a 57-54 victory over the Aggie men in the championship game.
CSUB (24-8) is advancing to its first NCAA Tournament as a Division I school. The Aggies (23-10) aren’t in contention for an NCAA at-large berth, but will receive an NIT berth as a regular-season league champion not going to the NCAAs. They should find out their opponent late today.
