LAS CRUCES — Despite two lost fumbles, the New Mexico State offense ran the ball fairly easily against their defensive counterparts in the first scrimmage of the spring on Saturday.
Junior quarterback Tyler Rogers appeared to have a clear advantage over Conner Cramer and Nick Jeanty, and that Larry Rose III guy is still pretty good.
“We were physical and we ran the ball well, which is what you want to see in a first scrimmage,” Aggies head coach Doug Martin said. “Other than the turnovers, it was a perfect day offensively.”
NMSU first-year defensive coordinator Frank Spaziani’s unit was shorthanded with injuries at linebacker, but the Aggies tackled well, forced three turnovers and did not give up the big plays through the air that plagued them last year.
