The first thing New Mexico State running back Larry Rose III told a reporter after the first day of spring workouts was that last year is over.
But what a year it was.
Rose was eighth in the country with 1,651 rushing yards, seventh in yards per game with 137.6 and sixth in yards per carry with 6.88. He was named third-team All-American.
He is the first back-to-back 1,000-yard rusher for the Aggies since Denvis Manns did it for four consecutive years (1995-98). The Fairfield, Texas, native had three 200-yard rushing games, including a career-high 260 rushing yards against New Mexico, and a 212-yard, four-touchdown rushing performance against Idaho.
