DENVER – The New Mexico State women's tennis team swept the first set of month awards the league announced late Tuesday morning. Freshman was named the singles player of the month while the duo of and claimed doubles team of the month.
Gavino, a Tucson, Ariz., product had a great debut in the Crimson & White, going 4-0 in the White singles flight in 2018 Aggie Invitational. The freshman first took down rival UNM's Madelyn Chavez 6-4, 6-0 before taking down her foe from UT Permian Basin 6-1, 6-2. Gavino then took down UTEP's Rine Nozaki with ease 6-2, 6-0 prior to best teammate in straight sets 6-4, 6-4 for the title.
