VERMILLION, S.D. – Freshman Hannah Leitner scored the first goal of her career but the New Mexico State women's soccer dropped a 5-2 decision at South Dakota on Thursday afternoon.
Both sides started the game solid defensively, with Dmitri Fong making saves in the 9th and 10th minutes. Then, NM State (1-6-2) saw its first opportunity of the game but a header from Katie Martinez off a free kick was saved in the 15th minute and Emma Smith's follow-up in the 16th minute was also stopped by the Coyotes (5-5).
