DAVIS, Calif. – The New Mexico State men's tennis team didn't have the start it wanted in the opening round of the Golden State Invitational on Friday, falling to Portland 7-0.
The Aggie No. 3 doubles team of Enrique Asmar and Mauri Benitez opened things up with a 6-4 win for NM State. However, Portland hung on to its slim lead on courts No. 2 and No. 1, winning 7-5 and 7-6, respectively, to capture the doubles point.
The Pilots' momentum carried over into singles action as UOP took down New Mexico State one-by-one in order besides on courts Nos.
