DENVER – The NM State softball team is the No. 1 seed for the Western Athletic Conference Tournament after clinching the regular season title with wins over UMKC Friday and Saturday, announced the league office. With this seed, the Aggies will have a first-round bye in the tournament and will face the winner of Seattle U vs. Utah Valley on May 12 at 4:30 p.m. MT in Seattle, Wash.
The Aggies (34-1, 14-1 WAC) needed to win two out of three games against UMKC to secure the title. After winning game one 5-4 on Friday and collecting a 7-2 victory in game two on Saturday, NM State completed the series sweep with an 11-8 victory.
