LAS CRUCES, N.M. - NM State athletics added to its branding package Thursday morning by unveiling a new secondary logo. The logo, a stylized version of New Mexico State, is a vintage logo that first made its appearance with the NM State Basketball Team in the late 1970s.
"As we looked to strengthen our identity as the State school in New Mexico, we found inspiration in our archives for a word mark that encompasses the message we wanted to put forward: We are New Mexico State," commented director of athletics Mario Moccia.
Introduced as a retro design for the 2019-20 season, the logo took little time to become popular with Aggie fans around the nation.
