DENVER – Katara Nelson was named the Western Athletic Conference Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week the league announced on Tuesday. This is the first award of Nelson's senior campaign and the Aggies first accolade of the outdoor season.
Nelson shattered the New Mexico State program record in the 400m at the Willie Williams Classic last weekend when she posted a time of 52.40. She took second in the event overall and first among collegiate athletes. The senior not only leads the WAC in the 400m but Nelson also leads the NCAA in the event.
