DENVER – Junior Katara Nelson has been named Western Athletic Conference Track Athlete of the Week, the conference announced on Tuesday. This is Nelson's second receiving this honor this season.
A native of Arlington, Texas, Nelson set new season best times in the 100m and 200m at the Ross Black Open this past weekend. In the 100m, she finished with a time of 11.82, putting her in seventh place in school history in the event. In the 200m, she finished with a time of 24.14.
Nelson currently leads the WAC in both events with these times.
