LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The New Mexico State men's tennis was edged on Saturday by preseason favorite Grand Canyon, 4-3, at the NMSU Tennis Center.
In doubles action, Grand Canyon (11-6, 3-0 WAC) struck first with a 6-2 win at doubles No. 3. The NM State No. 2 doubles pair of Liam Goldberg and Stijn de Haan won their seventh-straight doubles match when they defeated GCU's Mitch Maroscher and Meidy Chazeau 6-4 to tie things up.
However, GCU grinded out the win at No. 1 doubles 6-3 to take a 1-0 lead into singles play.
