ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — It would be hard to describe Wednesday night’s visit to the Pit as anything but a beating for the New Mexico State University men’s basketball team.
The Aggies’ 79-61 loss to rival New Mexico was a beating both on the scoreboard and from a physical perspective. NMSU (5-5) dropped its third straight game and limped back to Las Cruces with more injuries than answers.
New Mexico State went 0-for-7 from 3-point range, shot an atrocious 13-for-29 from the foul line and trailed nearly wire to wire. It was the first time NMSU failed to make a 3-pointer in a game since Marvin Menzies took over as coach in 2007-08.
