DENVER – New Mexico State's Alexis Maynez was named the Western Athletic Conference Hitter of the Week, the league announced on Monday. This is her first weekly honor this season and the first of her career at NM State.
Maynez, a sophomore catcher from Las Cruces, N.M., hit .833 with three extra-base hits and two RBI last week. Maynez recorded an exceptional 1.833 slugging percentage and a .833 on-base clip. She hit the game-ending home run in the fifth inning in the Aggies' 8-0 shutout of UMKC on Saturday. Maynez also hit a double and a triple in the second game of the doubleheader against the Roos.
