Tucson, AZ - The NM State track & field program started the 2022 outdoor season with a strong showing on day one of the Willie Williams Classic, hosted by the University of Arizona. Phetisang Makhethe (hammer throw), Mariah Humphrey (javelin), and Terice Steen (400m hurdles) gave the Aggies three first-place finishers, while a number of other athletes posted top-10 finishes and recorded new personal bests.

Phetisang Makhethe picked up right where she left off at the end of the indoor season, taking home the gold with a mark of 61.
